Grab a wine it’s a long one.
Our story begins in 2007 when I was the ripe old age of 17, when face off pants and MySpace were the hot new thing.
I was in my last year of high school and Josh was 23,and trying to make it as a big shot deejay whilst also an apprentice electrician.
I attended our year 12 school social, Josh was the deejay that night for us, and he had his MySpace name pop up on the screen “Midnight Madness” was his name, I thought to myself I’ll add him later his a good deejay might get him for my 18th or something.
In the photo I’m the one in the yellow top with black tights the theme was fluro.
Josh and I starting chatting and getting to know each other through MySpace and MSN messenger and not long after agreed to meet for the first time at our local horse racing event. I went with a friend and we caught up and chatted, after a long day we headed home but not before Josh got a sneaky kiss in, He also told me he was eyeing me off all night at that school disco and that he told his friend that his going to marry me one day, but this MySpace deejay wannabe had a secret he was actually dating another girl at the time of also seeing me.
However he ended up leaving that other girl for me and we continued on our merry way, one morning while just hanging out he turned and said to me “I think I’m falling in love with you” I still remember that moment like it was yesterday. We became closer and closer and ended up moving in together after I had finished up year 12, we moved into his parents bungalow, we both had started new jobs and we’re going great.
Fast forward to August 2011 when we went on a holiday to Queensland, this is where Josh proposed to me. His proposal was sweet I think…. honestly I don’t remember what he even said, it was all a blur being at the top of the Q1 observation deck with all the pretty lights – did I mention I’m shit fucking scared of heights I can’t even climb the 3rd step of a ladder. All I remember is having a ring on my finger and strangers congratulating us.
We chatted long and hard about having the big cliche wedding but ended up ditching that idea and eloped to America VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY!
After honeymooning in Los Angeles we came home and had a party to celebrate with all our family and friends, we also moved into our first home.
Oh did I tell you that Josh’s career as a deejay fizzled very quickly and he started his own business as an electrician.
So that’s our story its not as great as the notebook but it’s ours and I love it, people always get so surprised when I tell them where we got married and they always ask if it was by Elvis and no it was not – it was a legit wedding ha ha.
